Chihiro’s First Loss – Kagurabachi Chapter 10

Chihiros+First+Loss+-+Kagurabachi+Chapter+10

Kagurabachi’s tenth chapter, titled, “Swift,” picked up where the previous one left off, with Chihiro in the midst of his battle with Genichi Sojo. We learned that the former’s “Nishiki” technique is cloaking and that it imbues every punch and kick with high-density spirit energy. Sojo brought up Chihiro’s previous statement about his reason for protecting Char, which was to protect the weak, claiming that it was “boring, altruistic garbage.” He then went on to say that nothing is more inappropriate to Kunishige Rokuhira’s weapons of mass destruction than altruism.

That’s when Chihiro went on the offensive, using speed to his advantage. Sojo used “Ketsu,” an ice technique, but Chihiro was able to evade it. After both fighters came to a stalemate, Chihiro noticed two of Sojo’s men nearby, inside of a car, along with Char. Chihiro raced off toward the car and Sojo unleashed a lightning attack after him. However, a mysterious man intercepted the attack with a technique called, “Gansui,” blocking the lighting with a big wall of rock. It was then revealed that the man wasn’t alone, but that he was a member of the Kamunabi, his companions on the scene, as well. Upon noticing Mr. Shiba and Azami, Sojo claimed that, if they weren’t there, taking on the rest of the Kamunabi wouldn’t be an issue.

Sojo then utilized another technique and sent a shockwave through the entire area, jeopardizing everybody’s lives. Once Chihiro reached the car with Char inside, he realized he was too late, only able to see a leg that once belonged to her. Chihiro pinned down one of Sojo’s men, demanding to know where Char was. The man told him that, per Sojo’s orders, they were to chop up Char to confuse the enemy. Chihiro then asked where Hinao was and the page cut over to a panel of her laying on the ground, bloody and motionless. Chihiro then took the man’s life, claiming that, because he couldn’t save Char, the hand holding his father’s sword was complete trash.

We then cut over to Sojo hopping into a car with more of his goons, where it was revealed that Char was still alive, her limbs regenerating. Sojo told his men that he hadn’t yet mastered Cloud Gouger and that, in a real fight, it’s a completely different animal.

“I need to deepen my understanding,” he said.

One of his men told him that, now that they have the material back, in reference to Char, they can resume their plan to “surpass Kunishige Rokuhira.” Sojo then remembered Chihiro mentioning that Kunishige Rokuhira was his father, claiming that the two of them need to talk more. To close out the chapter, we cut back over to Chihiro, vowing to cut Sojo down.
