This is Ms. Haley Sommer’s first year teaching! She graduated from Illinois State University in December of 2020 with her bachelor’s degree in Spanish Teacher Education and then again in May 2022 with her master’s in Theoretical and Applied Linguistics. Ms.sommer has been having a great first year so far. 

  “I decided to teach at Guilford because it is my alma mater!” said Ms. Sommer. “I graduated from Guilford in 2017 and it has been my dream to come back here to teach ever since. My senior year of high school, I was voted ‘Most likely to become a Guilford teacher.’” 

   Ms. Sommer’s time at Guilford meant very much to her and she loved getting to learn from so many incredible teachers. Now these teachers are her coworkers. She is happy to be back here and a part of the Guilford community once again.

   “Once a G-Vike, always a G-Vike!” she said.

    Thursday nights are her absolute favorite because she gets to play D&D with her friends. She is currently playing a warlock, but sorcerers are her favorite. So far, she has read four books this year.

   “Outside of teaching, I love reading and playing Dungeons & Dragons. I read books from many genres, but fantasy is my favorite,” she stated.
