When it comes to high school festivities, homecoming is usually the first event that comes to mind. As homecoming came and went this year, there were many opinions on best ways to experience the dance. With this particular event, many students have certain rituals that get them through the night.

“A positive time at homecoming includes fun, good group, good dinner before, good food in the system, festivities after, and socializing,” said Blake Calcione, senior.

The dance was held in the gym this year, as opposed to outside like the last two years. The theme of the dance was “Night in Vegas.” The dance started at 7, but many students were lined up eary to enter the dance, the event went to 10.

“Don’t be lame,” said Amelia Brodeski , junior. “Go in the circle.”

Many students have the same ideas when it comes to the expectation of the dance. Students should be there to enjoy themselves and the company around them.

“People standing on the wall,” said Autumn Carlson, senior. “ I do not like seeing that because I think that everybody should be having fun. Everyone needs to dance, like experience it like do not just go and stand on the wall.”

It seems like an obvious solution for a fun night, but the stress of the dance can create unprovoked pressure towards students. The act of taking pictures, finding a place to eat, and deciding what to wear can cause a certain distress.

“ I think some good places for pictures are Rock Valley Collge and the Mercy Health Center, and one of my favorite resturants is Greenfire before a dance,” said Nikolina Komazec, senior. “It can be stressful when it comes to the specifics,  but everything usually works out in the end.”
