Lollapalooza (Lolla) is a 4 day music festival held annually in Grant Park in Chicago during the month of August. The name originates from Perry Farrell, meaning extraordinarily impressive. This is the 33rd year being hosted in Chicago, as it was a touring event before permanently settling in Grant Park. This festival is as popular as Summer Smash, Rolling Loud, and even Coachella. It is one of the biggest music festivals in the world. Although Chicago is the main city of attraction for this event, it does occur in other countries throughout the year. Due to the diversity of artists and genres, a wide range of ages and people with different music tastes attend this event. It hosts about 400,000 people each year.
In the past years, the biggest headliners included: Billie Elish, Diplo, Kendrick Lamar, Blink-182, and Metalica. Some 2024 headliners consist of SZA, Tyler the Creator, Future, and Hoizer. The lineup for this August’s festival was dropped March 19th, and pre-sale for 4-day admission began March 21st. However, individual day passes are not for sale yet due to the unknowing fact of which artists are performing when. The day passes are sold later once days artists are performing are confirmed. Tickets are sold months prior to the event because of popular demand, and ticket prices tend to get more expensive closer to the actual date to the event.
Lollapaloza is loved by many as it brings thousands of music lovers together. Although Chicago is the third largest city in the United States, this is a big event that brings even more tourists to the community. The Lollapaloza festival is anticipated by many more and more each year.
