What will the new year bring for Taylor Swift?

After an amazing year in 2022, most fans of international pop icon Taylor Swift are wondering what will be her next musical move in the New Year.

Last year, Swift not only released a brand new album called Midnights, she also won a MTV music video award for her short film All Too Well (10 minute version), best longform video for the same song, the artist of the year award, and several others. Swift received an honorary doctorate from New York University and broke several records with her tenth studio album Midnights

Midnights was, and still is a cultural phenomenon. Midnights was the first album since 2015 to sell over one million physical copies, mostly due to the multiple copies of the record that were released. Swift became the first artist to hold all top ten spots on the billboard hot 100 chart, with her song “Anti-Hero” holding the number one spot for eight consecutive weeks. Midnights became the most streamed album in a single day in Spotify history. Midnights was also considered one of the top pop-culture moments in 2022.

The build-up and promotion for Midnights was very different than how Swift normally promotes her albums. She started by revealing the tracks titles one at a time in a video series she called “Midnights Mayhem with Me.” Each new video would drop at midnight on a random day with no prior warning. She also released the music videos for “Anti-Hero” and “Bejewlwed” at very random times, and with only twenty four hours notice.

Even though we are only two months into 2023, Swift has already made her mark on the year. She released her music video for the song “Lavender Haze” on January 27, and just this week her song “All Too Well (10 minute version)” won the Grammy for music video of the year. Swift is also set to embark on a massive stadium tour this year. She is calling the tour The Eras Tour, and many people predict that the income from this tour will make her a billionaire. The first show on tour will be in Glendale, Arizona, on March 18 with Paramore as the opening act.

Many of her fans predict there is still much more to come from Swift this year, especially since she has announced that her re-recording of her third studio album Speak Now will be released before the embarks on The Eras Tour.

Overall, Taylor Swift fans can definitely expect more surprises from the singer in the new year.
