President Trump releases disgraced former Illinois governor from prison
WASHINGTON – On Tuesday, President Trump reduced the sentence of Illinois’ ex-governor Rod Blagojevich. Blagojevich was charged with bribery and fraud in 2009 after attempting to sell then-president Barack Obama’s senate seat. He was sentenced for fourteen years in prison, from 2012 to 2026. Trump released him, claiming that Blagojevich faced unfair prosecution from a politically motivated law enforcement.
