December is one of the most exciting, but stressful months for students. As winter break rears up and as well as the end of the semester, students are scrambling to maintain, or get their grades up while motivation declines.
Before every break, many students experience a decline in their motivation, making it hard to concentrate or get their grades where they want them to be. This decline seems to hit very hard right before winter break and summer break.
Winter break is two weeks long; two weeks of complete detachment from school and a major holiday in the mix, Christmas. The anticipation makes school and its work seem miniscule.
However, school isn’t the only thing that makes the winter holidays stressful. Many students work and have to continue working during the height of this stress about the ending of the semester. Along with work, the holidays can get chaotic. With all the shopping for family gifts and the family that comes out to visit, students can get very busy and preoccupied. The two weeks helps to separate some of this stress but it definitely doesn’t eradicate it.
Students should take the time to focus on school and do their best to enjoy a stress free break. Luckily this year, following winter break we have around 2 weeks until the end of the semester, giving a bit more time to get those grades up. So to all those stressed out during this busy season, I hope your winter break helps to ease some of the stress.
