Vikes emerge victorious in Battle of the Stadiums
In the final round of the Battle Of The Stadiums competition, Guilford successfully managed to secure their victory from their rival, Belvidere North High School.
The Battle Of The Stadiums was a competition held in order to determine which high school stadiums are the favorites between high school football fans in the Stateline. Each week during the months of October and November, a contest was held to determine the winners from the NIC – 10, the Big Northern Conference, the NUIC and from other schools around the area. The high school showcase premiered live every Friday night at 11 p.m. on Fox 39, hosted by Scott Leber and David Greenberg. A rebroadcast was aired Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. Guilford, overcoming each contest that approached them, emerged victorious.
Despite Guilford being claimed the winners of this competition, there are no tangible rewards for the victors.
“I thought it was really cool that we have media outlets that are using technology to create events that still allow for the community to show pride in their teams and for students to demonstrate school spirit at a time where extracurricular events are limited,” said social studies teacher Mr. Chris Weber.
