Rockford Public Library closing two locations for more remote advancements
ROCKFORD – Rockford Public Library will be closing two of their branches to expand more upon their mobile library and digital offerings. “It’s important to remember that the library board’s decision is about more than 2021,” said Director of Finance and Technology, Anthony Cortez. “It’s about the three years thereafter as well.”
They [Rockford Public Library] will close the Rock River branch and Rockton Center Locations. It has not yet been decided when they will close these locations. RPL has also stated that they will lay off 11 workers, instead of the original idea of laying off 27 and keeping the library open three times a week. The library also plans to provide chromebooks for long term use for adults.
