Illinois students could be exempt from active shooter drills, new bill proposes

SPRINGFIELD – Scott Bennett an Illinois lawmaker introduced a bill that states that parents of students could exempt their child from a school shooter drill. Laws now state that it is mandatory for schools to do an annual active shooter drill within the first 90 days of school. The only people allowed to exempt students from this frill at this time are school administrators.
