Illinois speed limit may increase if proposed bill passes
SPRINGFIELD – Jim Oberweis, a lawmaker in the 25th District, has introduced two bills to raise the speed limit. The bill would raise the max speed limit on highways from 70 MPH to 75 MPH, and the max limit outside urban areas from 55 MPH to 60 MPH. The last time the speed limit was raised was in 2013 to raise highways to 70 MPH.
