Mr. Oscar Roman is a new teacher at Guilford, and it is his first year teaching ever. He graduated last spring at the University of Urbana-Champaign. As a first year teacher, he is still learning the ropes.
“There’s a lot of learning I am experiencing,” said Mr. Roman. “My greatest challenge at Guilford is keeping up with the events, and as a first-year teacher, it can be challenging to ensure my lessons are done and ready to go for the year.”
Mr. Roman is a psychology/AP psychology teacher in room 226. As a Gen Z teacher he is really good at talking and connecting with students. Students who aren’t even in his class love to talk with him. As a young teacher, he knows how to keep everyone’s attention and keep the lesson interesting.
Even though he puts a lot of time and effort into teaching he still has hobbies he enjoys.
“I have so many interests outside of teaching. I occasionally like to play video games,” said Mr. Roman. “My favorites include Civ 6, BG3, and Minecraft. I do not have the amount of time to play as I used to, but I do enjoy playing some video games during breaks. I also love watching films. It is just a great way to enjoy a piece of cinema every now and then. Some of my favorite films include Interstellar, Shawshank Redemption, La La Land, and Knives Out.”
He is a passionate teacher who puts a lot of effort into his job.
“My goal as a teacher was to help as many students as possible, just like the many teachers in the past did for me.”
