Laufey is a 24-year-old Modern Jazz singer, born on April 23, 1999 in Iceland. She is a songwriter, singer, and multi-instrumentalist. Her music is based on Modern Jazz or Jazz Pop but she sings from the heart singing about things related to love and heart-shattering things like break-ups. She uses instruments like the cello and the violin with her sister. 

   Laufey wasn’t popular at first, like many other famous artists. The first song she made, her country loved and the whole internet did too. The song she created was “Street by Street” in 2020. 

   Later on, as Laufey kept making music, she released that song on her Typical of Me album. After 3 years of making albums and songs, her popularity increased from her TikTok reaching 18 million likes per day and her Spotify reaching 13.2 million views in seconds. As TikTok was more utilized, the song “From the Start” reached 269 thousand likes. From people enjoying her lively and lovey-dovey songs, she kept making more music throughout the next year. In 2024, she was recognized and awarded the 2024 Grammy Award, “Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album” for her album Bewitched.
