Mrs. Alexis Henderson is starting her first year of teaching here at Guilford. She might be new to teaching but she is not new to the building, Mrs. Henderson graduated from here, went on to be the cheerleading coach and a parent liaison for the school.
“It was weird to see adults that used to be my teachers now as my colleagues,” said Mrs. Henderson.
Mrs. Henderson’s end goal was always teaching. She referred to her work as a parent liaison as a stepping stone for her teaching career.
“I’ve always been a natural born leader,” said Mrs. Henderson. “I’m the oldest of six kids, I took school pretty seriously, was always excited to learn, and I’m good at teaching people.”
When Mrs. Henderson isn’t coaching cheerleading, she is partaking in a book club with her friends from college.
“I know it kinda sounds nerdy but I really enjoy it,” she said. “I haven’t picked up a book to read for pleasure since I was in middle school. I now have something to take my mind off of my busy life.”
