Mrs. Renee Grice is new this year and is experiencing her first year teaching; however, she worked here three years prior as a behavior intervention specialist for the production academy.
“My overall experience has been the relationships that I’ve built,” said Mrs. Grice. “From The beginning of the year getting to know my students a lot more now, it creates a really different dynamic for the classroom.”
Mrs. Grice really enjoyed her job here at Guilford previously; therefore, when an opportunity came up to become a teacher here she took it. Her favorite part of the day was working with kids on academics.
“Getting kids to love learning is a challenge,” said Mrs. Grice. “School is not always to your interest but if you can learn how to love to learn it’s gonna take you really far in life. Sometimes that message is hard to convey, especially knowing that math can be hard but trying to cross that barrier of academics into more of a general loving learning can help.”
She teaches math and global studies and understands how students feel about school and how difficult it can be to like it and focus as well. She tries her best to make school interesting and wants students to be more open about it even though it can be hard for her she still tries.
“To get my kids engaged as much as possible,” said Mrs. Grice. “I know that some of these subjects are not their favorite, so doing fun activities or taking little moments in the day where we can just kind of relax and not be so uptight all the time. Just to get them comfortable with the environment and a little more engaged in the classroom.”
Mrs. Grice is excited to be a teacher here at Guilford. So far her experience here has been great. She loves her job as well as her students and getting to know them.
