Mrs. Brooke Imbach is our new librarian. She has been in education for thirteen years, seven of those as a librarian. Other than working for the Rockford district at Guilford and Kennedy, she also taught for two years in Nashville, Tennessee. She has enjoyed her time at Guilford so far.
“The students and staff have been so kind and welcoming,” said Ms. Imbach.
Mrs. Imbach came to Guilford after leaving Kennedy. She applied with one of her close friends, another new staff member, Mrs. Mulligan. She likes the location of Guilford and the environment.
“It is close to home and my daughter will be here in 6 years,” she said.
Mrs. Imbach had to adjust to working with an older age group, although she says freshmen are similar to middle schoolers just a year older.
“It’s kind of weird working with seniors because they are kids that are still kind of adults,” said Mrs. Imbach.
She was also surprised at how big Guilford is people-wise. She mentions how there are many staff members and students.
“The size of the town I lived in was only 2,000 people and that is how many students there are at Guilford. The size is surprising,” she said.
Mrs. Imbach has many interests. These interests include reading, crafts, watching TV, and spending time with family. She also enjoys traveling. She had been to six different countries.
Mrs. Imbach sees many kids a day going in and out of the library. This has a positive effect on students she believes.
“I have affected student life at Guilford trying to make the library a welcoming place and I hear that they want to be here more welcoming to students and a safe place.” said Mrs. Imbach.
So far Mrs. Imbach has been taking book suggestions to buy. She has also met with classes and had check-out days with them.
“Movies do librarians a disservice,” she said.
