Mr. Jordan Doering has been at Guilford for a little under a year now. He began at Guilford student teaching with Mr. Czerwin, and following Ms. Bell’s leave last school year he became her class’s permanent substitute. Guilford’s administration offered Mr. Doering a permanent position as a sophomore English teacher, and he accepted the offer and has been one of our sophomore English teachers since.
“I student taught here and I had a fantastic experience,” said Mr. Doering. “I love the culture and the environment here, I feel very supported.”
So far Mr. Doering has had a positive experience with Guilford as a school. He feels he is helping students, which brings him the most joy while being a teacher here.
“The one thing that always makes my day is when I’m talking or working with a student one-on-one, and then they get it. You can kinda see that lightbulb go off in their brain and it’s like their eyes light up and you know that it just clicked for that student,” said Mr. Doering, “These moments are what make me remember why I’m here.”
Mr. Doering does other activities than just making students better students. Outside of teaching and the school environment, Mr. Doering really enjoys music. He listens to music and plays guitar, bass, and drums. He enjoys outdoor activities like hiking. And of course, just like almost every English teacher, he enjoys reading outside of school as well.
“I am really into music. I like listening to it and playing it,” said Mr. Doering, “I also really like doing things outdoors. Just being outside in nature.”
