On August 31, 2023, students were greeted with new vending machines in the cafeteria. The vending machines have been a hit since they’ve entered our building. The first day was packed with kids trying to get their hands on the contents that graze the inside of the metal box.
At first, students were estatic about the vending machines, but now into the school year, there have been complaints.
“The vending machine robs people,” said Jhyare Cooper, sophomore.
Cooper has fallen victim to the vending machine taking money from students and not giving it back. He had purchased something and had stated that his account had went into the negatives because of the charges afterwards.
Prices are acceptable to some but others think they’re too high.
“I think they’re fair, higher then what they would be at a gas station,” said Bryson Halley, sophomore. “But I think it’s fine because its not too high.”
The vending machines have been a great source of getting your snacks and drinks when you don’t want to get the normal school lunch. Overall, students comment that the machines add to the school’s food options.
“Not only can students get more to eat but it also helps with funding,” said Halley.
Some students would argue that the snacks in the vending machine are healthier options than what the school is serving.
“I think they add to the school because they supply a healthy choice of food,” said Morgan Posley, sophomore.

Options are a great thing! I’m sure the machines are a hit with those in afterschool activities too.
