Ms. Dana Burkhardt: Special Education

This is Ms. Dana Burkhardt’s first year teaching at Guilford. She decided on Guilford for a few reasons, one major reason was to have an opportunity to be in the same building as her children as a single mother was priceless to her.

“I did coach the poms and dance team this year,” she stated. “I have had many years teaching and coaching dance, have also traveled the world teaching dance, and have a love to teach it to others.”

Another reason Ms. Burkhardt chose Guilford was that she  really enjoyed student teaching here and it felt like it would be a great place for her.

“I wanted to be somewhere, where I felt like I would be part of a team, and I felt that here,” Ms. Burkhardt said.

Ms. Burkhardt’s goal is for students at Guilford to have our name be associated with a polished dance team.

“We are at a fundamental level currently, but with practice and perseverance of technique I can see Guilford move up in the ranking and placing at the NIC-10 competitions in the next few years,” she said.

Ms. Burkhardt also hopes to see school spirit increase.

“Guilford made the local news a few years ago for having such an outstanding student section at all sporting events,” she said. “I’m not sure if that is due to COVID, but I was surprised to see it lacking in theme days participation / spiritwear/ and student sections. We can do better at this, I just know it!”
