Mrs. Lynette Schultz: English

Mrs. Lynette Schutlz teaches English 11. This is her 18th year teaching, and teaching has been her sole career. Before coming to Guilford, Mrs. Schultz taught in Wisconsin.

One difference Mrs. Schultz noticed this year was the heat in Rockford compared to Wisconsin.

“I think the heat at the beginning of the year was very challenging,” she stated. “I just felt like I was melting every day!”

Mrs. Schultz decided to teach at Guilford because her teaching philosophy and what she wants to accomplish as a teacher align with what Guilford wants to be able to do for and with students.

“It’s not easy to find a school where you feel so supported to try new things,” she said. “I really appreciate having that freedom.”

It has been a challenging year for Mrs. Schultz, but support from her students has been helpful.

‘’The most positive experience I have had so far was after the loss of my mother in November,” said Mrs. Schultz. “My students were so kind and so caring.  They even bought me a bouquet and gave me a beautiful card.  I have never felt so supported by a group of students.”

For next year, Ms lynette would love to organize a creative writing club and maybe put together a literary magazine.

“The biggest surprise is that I have never worked this hard in my life, and I’ve also never had as much fun with my students,” she stated.

Out of school Mrs. Schultz enjoys reading, photography, writing, music, and more things at home.

“I just want to say I am so grateful to be here, and I cannot imagine teaching anywhere else,” she stated.
