Mr. Patrick Appino: Math

Mr. Patrick Appino transferred here from Auburn High School, where he taught for the previous 10 years. He teaches math and is a football coach.

“Overall, the acceptance and inclusion from the administration, the staff, and the students have been extremely positive,” said Mr. Appino. “I am extremely grateful for this Viking community.  Being a new teacher at a new school, the greatest challenge I have faced (other than Batavia’s football team) is just trying to figure out my place amongst the Math Team and football team here at Guilford. But I feel like I am starting to settle in and get comfortable, I hope I can be a part of the momentum Guilford has as a school for some time to come.  I saw the direction of the school and football program, and I really wanted to be a part of both.”

Mr. Appino described the GHS climate as pleasant and refreshing.

“I hope being a model of patience, understanding, respect, and positivity has the biggest effect on my students and players,” he stated.

Mr. Appino’s goals are to win more football games, improve his mathematical instructional practices, and immerse himself in the Guilford Viking community.

“The football team really accepted me into their culture and way of doing things here at Guilford,” he stated. “The players were amazing and the coaches were super supportive. This past year was one of my favorite years of coaching in my career. My goal for next year is to help build the football program by increasing the number of students who come out to play football and hopefully increasing our winning ways on the field.”

Outside of teaching, Mr. Appino enjoys many activities outside of school.

“I love to golf, travel, read, woodwork, and play with my two kids,” he stated. “I’d like to thank the entire Guilford community for one of my favorite years of teaching and coaching to date. This is a special place and I’m glad I’m a part of it.”
