Mr. Ryan Callahan is a new teacher in the Social Studies department. He did his student teaching at Guildford last spring under Mr.Mrizek, and this is his first full teaching job.

“I decided to teach at Guilford because I wanted to give back and teach at a school that impacted who I am as an individual profoundly.,” he stated. “My teachers in high school had a great impact on me, not only educating me but serving as role models.”

Mr.Callahan technically just starting his professional career, but he brings his internship experience from both the federal judiciary and Illinois house, as well as leadership positions from Rockford University Mr. Callahan was an intern for a state representative Maurice west during my sophomore year of college as well as for federal judge in Rockford before his senior year of college.

Mr. Callahan hopes to see students participate in extra-curricular activities more as he described how important being a part of the student body was to him. He also described how he sees students learning more with technology compared to when he was a high school student.

He enjoys helping out with the school football teams when he can. When Mr.Callahan isn’t busy with school work he likes spending time with family and listening to podcasts and comedians.

“‘A bad attitude is like a flat tire, you won’t get anywhere if you don’t change it,’” is a favorite quote of Mr. Callaha
