Shamir Johnson, sophomore: “I think that it’s important to celebrate MLK day because of the impact that he had on the entire world. The words he spoke and the message he stood for raised confidence and awareness for an entire generation to fight for equality. By celebrating his life every year, we’re keeping his message alive that represents the hardships African Americans went through and the ongoing fight for equality.”
