12,623 COVID cases, 79 deaths in Illinois on Tuesday

SPRINGFIELD – Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) has reported 12,623 new confirmed cases including 79 deaths. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years. As of last night 4,742 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital for COVID-19. 

The positive tests for COVID-19 have jumped up to 12.0% from November 3rd to November 9th. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, IDPH has been using test positivity for regional mitigation metrics since early July. On October 29th 2020, IDPH began reporting the statewide test positivity in its daily releases. The new positivity rate is 0.13%. Illinois Veterans’ Home LaSalle (IVHL) has reported 3 new resident deaths in the last 24 hours.
