After signing peace deal, U.S. military attacks Taliban again
KABUL – Today the United States military carried out the first attack, in this case an airstrike, on the Taliban since signing a historic peace treaty including the withdrawal of all U.S. troops from Afghanistan. The airstrike took place due to Taliban fighters attacking an Afghan National Security Forces checkpoint. A U.S. spokesperson stated that Washington was committed to peace, and that the strike was purely for defensive purposes, but would protect Afghan forces if need be.
