Caution! New phone scam aiming to steal your credit card, social security number

ROCKFORD – The City of Rockford has been notifying citizens about recent phone scams involving phone numbers that are related to the Rockford Police Department. Residents in and outside Illinois have been getting calls from cell-phone numbers that are asking for social security numbers, and credit card information. If you have received these calls report it to the non-emergency police number at 815-966-2900.
