SPRINGFIELD – With the legalization of recreational marijuana being put into effect at the start of the new year, the state of Illinois is generating a massive amount of revenue due to the increasingly high sales taxes on the substance. In the month of January alone, the State of Illinois generated over $10 million in tax revenue and $40 million overall from marijuana sales in the month of January alone.
