Knives+out+review

Knives Out is the newest murder mystery, written and directed by Rian Johnson, who also directed some of the more recent Star Wars movies. It stars Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Daniel Craig, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Leiberher, Christopher Plummer, and Lakeith Stanfeild. The movie has received praise from both critics and audiences, with a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. Knives Out made 110 million dollars domestically and 214.6 million globally.

In the movie, Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer), an elderly mystery writer, dies at his 85th birthday party in his mansion. His entire extensive family is there, as well as his dedicated nurse, Marta, played byAna de Armas. This makes them all suspect. Benoit Blanc, played by Daniel Craig, is the southern gentleman-detective who has been hired anonymously. With the help of Marta, Blanc examines the crime in a methodical way to rival even Hercule Poirot. The  chain of murders, car chases, and passive-aggressive family dinners, Blanc narrows it down to a specific chain of events, and one killer in the ultimate test innocent and guilty.

The movie feels a lot like an Agatha Christie novel, renowned for stunning plot twists and rich details. Fans of Murder on The Orient Express are sure to fall in love with this instant classic.

The movie deals heavily with family politics and the art of backstabbing. There are constant twists and turns in this frantic mystery that are guaranteed to keep the audience on the edge of their seats. The ending is completely unexpected and altogether satisfactory.
