It Chapter 2 Review
November 8, 2019
The sequel to 2017’s It, based on Stephen King’s best-selling novel, It: Chapter 2 premiered on August 26, 2019 and released in the United States on September 6th, 2019. The film grossed $420 million in the box office, making it the second largest opening behind its predecessors and receiving mixed reviews from critics, with praise for actors’ performance and suspense but criticism for its three hour run time, CGI animation and jump scares that were weaker than the first movie.
Twenty-seven years ago, the Loser Club defeated Pennywise the Clown and made a pact that if Pennywise ever returned, they would all come back to Dairy, Maine, to finish off Pennywise once and for all. Pennywise has returned with recent killings of residents, causing the Loser Club to come back to Dairy, Maine, face their darkest fears and come face to face with Pennywise one last time.
The actor who plays Pennywise, Bill Skarbard, gives a chilling and suspenseful performance, adding something new to the 1990s performance by Tim Curry. Actors playing the older version of the Loser Club like Bill Hader, James Mcavoy, Isaiah Mustafa and Jay Ryan also bring new angles to the characters they play.
