Not interested in reading a 760-page book? Try seeing the musical instead! This year, the Guilford Theatre Department is performing the musical adaptation of Little Women.
Little Women is a book written by Louisa May Alcott in 1869. It follows the lives of four sisters and their mother during the American Civil War.
“I’m most excited to create a living, breathing story,” said Agius Adamany, junior, who plays Professor Bhaer. “It’s one thing to look at a script, and it’s just a bunch of words on a page, and it doesn’t really become something until everybody comes together and gets on that stage, and then it becomes real.”
The musical is directed by Mrs. Melissa Wolf, theatre teacher. It will be performed Thursday, November 21 and Friday, November 22, at 7:00 p.m. as well as Sunday, November 24 at 3:00 p.m.
“[The whole cast] are really hard workers, and really talented,” said Mrs. Wolf.
The daily rehearsals are between one and two hours long, four days a week. They cover acting, vocals, dance, and tech.
Trinity Wilson, junior, is taking the position of stage manager for her first time after previous experiences working tech theatre.
“I’m really excited to have this be performed,” said Trinity. “It’s thrilling to be on stage with everybody.”
The cast is incredibly invested in the musical and excited to be a part of it.
“It’s a very good show with a lot of talented and amazing people,” said Oscar Almonaci, senior, who is in the ensemble. “It gives me an opportunity to come out of my shell and show my range.”
